Tourism and its types in the modern world are considered as a socio-economic phenomenon that has a direct and indirect impact on the development of all related infrastructure. Based on the analytical study, we proposed an organizational and economic mechanism for the development of scientific tourism in the Vologda Region, since tourism development management, in particular scientific tourism, is a complex process that requires an integrated and systematic approach to stimulate. The proposed mechanism consists of several interconnected blocks: the subject of management, provision of management of the object and the object of management itself. The subject of management of scientific tourism development is presented as a set of federal, regional and municipal authorities. The object of management of scientific tourism development is the system of relations between the traveler – the consumer of tourist services and the contractor who provides these services. The main aspect of the organizational and economic mechanism is the formation of management tools. We proposed legal, economic, informational, organizational, educational tools that help stimulate the development of scientific tourism in the Vologda Region.
