Today, the role of the banking sector in ensuring the economic security of any state is very great, since it is conditioned by such factors as: economic globalization, financial crises, the volume of innovations in the financial sector. That is why the study of the banking system in the context of economic security is an important aspect for developing an effective economic policy and ensuring sustainable development of the country. In addition, in conditions of economic instability, it is the banking sector that determines the well-being of citizens and the level of entrepreneurial activity in the country. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the relationship between the stability and sustainability of the banking system and the effectiveness of the level of economic security of the Russian Federation. The article considers the essence of the banking system and economic security, as well as their regulatory framework. An analysis of the effectiveness of the banking sector of Russia is carried out. An assessment of the financial security of the Russian Federation is given. The relationship between the banking and economic systems is revealed.
