The article summarizes the views of scientists on the interpretation of the economic essence of enterprise sustainability, highlights the authors definition of sustainability as stability. The current vectors of the aviation industry enterprise development are systematized. It is concluded that it is necessary to identify such strategic components of the sustainability of the aviation industry as the management system, production factors, and technological level. The idea is to further identify indicators for each strategic component and monitor their stability over time, on the one hand, and compliance with planned values, on the other. The sustainability of the aviation industry as a development without sudden fluctuations and as a development within the forecast scenario is interpreted by the authors as an important condition for ensuring the economic security of the industry, affecting the state of the national economy.
