The prevailing practical approach to analyzing personnel structure, which is based on statistics of quantitative and qualitative indicators, fails to account for its procedural nature as a dynamic subsystem shaped by organizational communications and reflective of the organization&amp;#39;s life cycle. Therefore, there is a need to refine the approach to personnel structure analysis by categorizing employees based on the nature of their involvement in the production process, while considering the principles of enterprise development as a complex social system. The following research methods were employed: observation, surveying, interviewing, correlation analysis, and the graphical method. As a result, the significance of a categorical analysis of the personnel structure for timber industry enterprises engaged in primary wood processing is substantiated. The distinctive features of the personnel structure were identified, and the relationship between the personnel structure and production efficiency indicators was determined. A strong correlation was established between personnel categories as an indicator of the role of organizational communications in the enterprise&amp;#39;s operational processes. This approach to personnel structure analysis is relevant for achieving the development goals of the Russian timber industry and could be in demand for enterprises in other sectors.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>At the current stage of development of the digital and knowledge-based economy, it is critically important to build an organizational and personnel structure that aligns with both the current operational processes and the strategic development prospects of an enterprise.
