Some authors mediate the human capital by certain aspects of the personality, which can be assessed only with the help of the indicative method; others speak about a person as the subject of economic relations, and therefore allow the valuation of his/her capital. The article covers the main existing approaches and methods for assessing the human capital in the insti-tution of higher education, and point out some of their advantages and drawbacks. The author builds an algorithm for estimating the human capital of university graduates on the basis of the analysis of existing approaches for the assessment. Besides, the author develops a system of indicators of the graduates&amp;rsquo; human capital, characterizing such factors as: the index of professional and general cultural competence development; the index of potential earnings of the graduate with regard to the skills and training areas; the index of the return norm.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article considers the possibility of the human capital measuring, which is still a matter of debate in the economic literature.
