ASSESSMENT OF THE IMPACT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ON THE INTENSIFICATION
OF THE US AGRICULTURAL SECTOR

The role of information supply as a factor in the intensification of U.S. agriculture in the 21st century has not been evaluated before. According to statistical data based on long series, correlation matrices have been constructed to determine the relationship of intensification factors in crop production, in particular in corn production. The applied econometric models based on multiple linear regressions, followed by regression analysis and transition to linear models, showed a significant correlation between total factor productivity and the number of farms with Internet access (characterizing the degree of distribution of information technologies) for the period from 2001 to 2015, as well as the relationship between such farms and the integration of biotechnology (area of Biotech Crops) into U.S. agriculture from 2004 to 2019. Thus, quantitative methods have confirmed the high degree of influence of information technology on the intensification of the agricultural sector of the country.
