ARMENIA-CHINA ECONOMIC RELATIONS: DEVELOPMENT TRENDS
This article examines the main areas of cooperation between Armenia and China. The study's findings demonstrate that the modern structure of trade flows between the considered countries is highly unsatisfactory for Armenia: a growing trade deficit and a reliance on raw materials for exports limit the potential of Armenian producers in the Chinese market. Chinese investment in the Armenian economy is insignificant. Armenian government agencies should pay greater attention to cooperation with financial institutions affiliated with China's Belt and Road Initiative, it facilitates investment in various sectors, from transport infrastructure to education, technology, and culture. For Armenia, as a small economy, cooperation within multilateral frameworks is of great importance: China's Belt and Road Initiative, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Eurasian Economic Union, and BRICS. Linking EAEU transport routes with the corridors of the Chinese initiative could be seen as an opportunity for Armenia to integrate the national projects “North-South Road Corridor” and “Crossroads of the Peace”.
